How Much Does a Bathroom Renovation Cost in Ireland? (2026 Guide)

Published 26 June 2026 · WEPRO Renovations

Short answer: WEPRO bathroom work starts from €1,499 for the smallest straightforward scope. This is a genuine minimum entry price, not the typical price of a complete bathroom. Room size, plumbing changes, substrate condition, waterproofing, ventilation, electrical work, access, product choices and disposal all change the final written quote.

WEPRO minimum bathroom prices

ScopeMinimum advertised price
Small straightforward bathroom scopeFrom €1,499
Complete bathroom packageFrom €5,499
Luxury bathroom packageFrom €9,999
Small bathroom limited scopeFrom €499
Ensuite limited scopeFrom €999

“From” means the lowest price for a small, straightforward version of that scope. It does not mean every project costs that amount, and it is not an estimate for an unseen room. The written quote confirms measurements, inclusions, preparation, materials and access for the actual property.

Build a useful planning budget

Before requesting quotes, write down the same brief for every contractor:

  • Room dimensions and photographs
  • Which fittings stay in the same position
  • Products you will supply and products the contractor should supply
  • Tiling extent, tile size and finish
  • Ventilation, heating and lighting changes
  • Access, parking and disposal constraints
  • Any known damp, leaks, uneven floors or outdated services

Ask at least three suitable contractors to price the same brief. A low number is not comparable if it excludes preparation, disposal, regulated work or products included elsewhere.

What affects the cost

  • Size and layout — bigger rooms need more tiling, materials and labour; moving the toilet, bath or shower adds plumbing work.
  • Materials — tiles range from budget ceramic to large-format porcelain and natural stone; sanitaryware and brassware vary enormously.
  • Condition — older Irish homes often hide dated pipework, rot or uneven floors that need fixing first.
  • Waterproofing — proper tanking costs more upfront but is non-negotiable for a bathroom that lasts.
  • Regulated work — the quote should identify who is responsible for electrical or gas work and any applicable completion documents.

A rough cost breakdown

Ask for these headings to be separated where practical:

  • Survey, design and project management
  • Protection, strip-out and disposal
  • Plumbing, electrical work and ventilation
  • Substrate repair and waterproofing
  • Tiling and finishing
  • Sanitaryware, brassware, screens and furniture
  • Painting, sealing, cleaning and handover

Wet rooms and accessible bathrooms

A wet room is a tanked, level-access bathroom without a conventional raised shower tray. Structural preparation, drainage falls and the waterproofing system can make its scope different from a tray installation.

If the project is about accessibility or mobility, the Housing Adaptation Grant for People with a Disability has a current maximum of €40,000. It is means-tested, eligibility rules apply and approval is controlled by the local authority, so confirm it before budgeting around funding.

How to avoid hidden costs

  1. Ask for a written, itemised quote based on the measured room.
  2. Confirm whether waterproofing, regulated work and waste disposal are included.
  3. Agree all materials and a layout before work starts.
  4. Decide in writing how concealed defects or requested changes will be priced and approved.
