How Much Does a Tiler Cost in Ireland? (2026 Price Guide)
Published 25 January 2026 · WEPRO Renovations
Short answer: tilers in Ireland typically charge €35–€60 per square metre for labour, depending on tile size, pattern and how much surface preparation is needed. Our own tiling starts from €34/m². Small jobs are sometimes priced as a flat rate rather than per m².
Typical tiling rates in Ireland
| Work type | Typical labour range | |---|---| | Standard wall/floor tiling | €35 – €50 / m² | | Large-format porcelain | €45 – €60 / m² | | Natural stone (marble, travertine) | €50 – €60+ / m² | | Mosaic & intricate patterns | Priced per job |
These are labour ranges from the current Irish market. Materials, adhesives and preparation are usually quoted separately or itemised in a full price.
What the price depends on
- Tile size & type — large-format and natural stone are slower to set and less forgiving, so they cost more.
- Pattern — herringbone, brick-bond and feature layouts take longer than straight grids.
- Substrate condition — the biggest hidden cost. Floors may need levelling; walls may need boarding or priming.
- Waterproofing — wet areas need tanking before tiling, which is itemised separately.
Why preparation is most of the job
Tiling fails from underneath: unlevel floors, the wrong adhesive bed or missing movement joints crack tiles and grout within a year or two. A cheap quote that skips preparation usually costs more later. Proper prep is why good tiling carries a long workmanship guarantee.
Supplying your own tiles
You can almost always supply your own tiles — many clients do. A good tiler will check slip rating, porosity and calibre before fixing anything, so you don't buy tiles unsuited to the room.
