Wet Rooms Limerick

Level-access wet rooms across the city and county, built as a tanked system rather than a tray with a seal. Typical €4,500–€10,800, entry from €1,499. The floor is assessed before a price is quoted — in Limerick that is what decides the number.

Limerick city and county

In Limerick, the floor decides the price

Georgian terraces in the city core, busy rental stock around the University of Limerick in Castletroy, and family homes in Dooradoyle and Raheen.

That mix matters more here than in most Irish cities, because a wet room is not a bathroom with the tray taken out. A concrete slab takes a screeded fall — the straightforward version of the job. A suspended timber floor cannot, so the falls are formed with a proprietary former let into the structure and the joists are checked first. Same room, same tiles, genuinely different job. It is the reason two Limerick quotes for one bathroom can be several thousand euro apart and both be honest.

What your part of Limerick means for the job

Four kinds of property, four different starting points. The survey establishes which one you have before anything is priced.

Georgian core — timber floors

O'Connell Avenue, the Crescent, North Circular Road and the Ennis Road terraces. Suspended timber floors with original joist depths, so the falls are formed with a proprietary former let into the floor rather than screeded on top. The joists get checked before anything is cut, and if they will not take the build-up you are told at survey — not after strip-out.

Suburban estates — concrete slab

Dooradoyle, Raheen, Caherdavin and much of Castletroy. A slab takes a screeded fall, which is the straightforward version of the job, and drainage runs are usually short and sensible. These are the rooms that land in the lower half of the price band.

Rental stock near the University

Castletroy and Annacotty. The rooms have usually been let hard for a decade, so strip-out is where the real condition shows: chipboard that has been wet for years, failed waste connections, extractor fans ducted nowhere. A wet room here is often the right answer precisely because the whole floor gets tanked as a system.

Corbally and the older estates

Mixed construction and mixed pipework. Expect at least one item — a lead or steel tail, a valve that will not close, a soil connection at the wrong angle — to appear once the room is open. It belongs in the quote as a line, not as a surprise.

Whichever it is, the build order is the same and the order is the whole job: strip-out and structural check, drainage route and falls, full membrane tanking with a cure that cannot be compressed, then anti-slip tiling and fit-off. A wet room delivered in two days has skipped either the cure or the floor build-up. The full cost breakdown is here.

“I got WEPRO Renovations in to do a full rip-out and refit of our bathroom in Limerick City. The old one was in bits — pipes leaking, black mould everywhere. They sorted the damp, redid the plaster, plumbing, electrics, the whole lot. Communication was brilliant the whole way through; with any little issue, they asked before doing anything. The lads cleaned up every day, didn’t leave a speck, and the finish on the tiling is better than any showroom I’ve seen. The job took a bit longer because of the damp surprise, but they didn’t charge extra, just sorted it. If you want a crowd that actually gives a damn in Limerick, go with them.”

Fergal · Limerick CityCustomer message

These are bathroom, tiling and kitchen projects in Limerick rather than wet rooms specifically — WEPRO does not relabel feedback to match a page heading. Fergal's is the closest in scope: a full rip-out and refit in Limerick City where the damp, plaster, plumbing and electrics were all rebuilt, which is the same wet-area work a conversion involves. The verified wet room review is on the Killarney page.

Wet rooms in Limerick — common questions

Most conversions finish between €4,500 and €10,800, with entry from €1,499 for a small, straightforward level-access shower zone. The typical Irish market range for the same work is €5,000 to €12,000, benchmarked 21 August 2026. Limerick sits at the national average, so there is no city loading either way. The advertised ‘from’ price is the minimum for a small, straightforward scope. It is not a typical price for a full renovation. The final written quote depends on measurements, preparation, materials, access and the agreed specification.

Often yes, but the floor decides it, not the room. Original joists at shallow depths limit how much build-up the floor can take, so the falls are formed with a proprietary former rather than screeded, and the structure is assessed before anything is ordered. Where it genuinely will not work, you are told at survey and offered the alternative rather than sold the conversion anyway.

Usually because they are pricing two different jobs. A screeded fall on a slab and a former let into a timber floor are not the same work, and neither is a fully tanked room versus a tray with a seal. Ask each contractor how the falls are being formed, which waterproofing system is being applied and to what area, and what the drainage work involves. The cheaper quote is often the smaller job.

If it is needed for mobility or a disability, Limerick City and County Council administers both schemes: the Mobility Aids Grant (up to €8,000, which names level-access showers specifically) and the Housing Adaptation Grant for People with a Disability (up to €40,000, means-tested). Approval must be in writing before work starts, an occupational therapist usually specifies the works, and payment follows completed work and inspection.

5–7 working days — WEPRO's confirmed programme for a standard bathroom, which a straightforward wet room follows. The tanking cure and the grout set the pace, not the labour. If it is the only bathroom in the house, say so with the enquiry: the sequence is planned around that and the out-of-use window is agreed in writing in advance.
